Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (SBV) is a young health sciences Deemed to be University that is deeply rooted in rich ethos, as linked to academics, patient care, evidence based research and extension activities. Situated amidst sylvan surroundings at Puducherry, a hub of rich and diverse cultural heritage, SBV strives to excel in all the above mentioned frontiers.
Puducherry is a Union Territory in India and the name is derived from the Tamil word denoting New Town. The constituent territories of Puducherry comprise the town of Pondicherry, Karaikal, Yanam and Mahe. The Official languages are Tamil and English, besides Malayalam as spoken in Mahe, Telugu as spoken in Yanam. Arikamedu is an archaeological marvel situated at Ariyankuppam commune, Pondicherry. Comprehensive details are now available based on archaeological assessment and it is believed that significant civilization had taken place as early as late 1st century BCE to the 1st and 2nd Centuries CE.
SBV is established as a Deemed to be University, under section 3 of UGC Act 1956 by the then Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India Vide notification No. F.9 -53/2005 –U.3 dated 4th August 2008. SBV is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with A Grade {CGPA of 3.11 on a 4 point scale}. SBV is ranked among the top 100 Universities by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF ).
The Main Campus of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth (SBV) is located at Pondicherry and the Off-Campus is located at Ammapettai, Nellikuppam Post, Chengalpattu district, Tamil Nadu. The Off-campus comprises Shri Sathya Sai Medical College & Research Institute, Shri Sathya Sai College of Nursing and Faculty of Allied Health Sciences.
